We are the Swedish federation of unemployment insurance funds. Our task is to serve the interest of, and provide services to, Sweden’s 25 unemployment insurance funds. This includes developing their IT systems, supporting them in interpreting the laws of the unemployment insurance and creating public opinion on important issues concerning the funds and their members.
We represent the interests of Sweden’s unemployment insurance funds and their approximately 4 million members. We are the only organization in the Swedish labour market that unites organizations connected both to wage-earner groups and to various associations of self-employees.
Our task is to function as the organization serving the interests of, and providing services to, Sweden’s unemployment insurance funds. For example, we represent the unemployment insurance funds in presenting propositions to government agencies and other organizations.
Within our organization, the unemployment insurance funds work together to promote application of the rules of unemployment insurance in a uniform way.
We also develop administrative routines common to all unemployment insurance funds, for example involving new computer systems.
Other important functions of the organization include offering education and/or training to the staff of the unemployment insurance funds and providing information to organizations, government agencies and the public about the unemployment insurance and the work of the unemployment insurance funds.
We co-operate with the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) and with the Swedish Unemployment Insurance Board (IAF) in questions of principal importance to unemployment insurance.
In addition to taking part in frequent exchanges of knowledge concerning unemployment insurance with sister organizations in Scandinavia, we are also represented internationally through membership of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
To the right you will find information about the Swedish unemployment insurance and the conditions you have to fulfil to receive unemployment benefit.
